This portable custom built unit compliments the service technicians ability to test hydraulic proportional valves. It contains an interchangeable corresponding electronic amplifier card for the various valves and an internal variable power supply. It is powered by a regular 120 volt AC outlet and uses standard DIN 43650 connectors for the valve (cables on the back). This unit also has precision voltage and current digital meters and can isolate exiting machine valve controls to assist in quik troubleshooting results or for just plain proportional valve and control testing.

This unit offers ease and simplicity to testing equipment that relies on a variable signal. It can provide a variable signal and show the actual value of the equipment being tested. It also has the capability to reverse the polarity of the signal. This particular unit compares a proportional hydraulic valve 0 – 10 VDC input signal with the valves corresponding LVDT and can be used to provide calibration or determine functionality. It utilizes standard hydraulic connection cable (on back) and uses a regular 120 volt AC outlet.

This particular project was a set controls for an outdoor transfer cart at a major electrical generating station which moved 100 tonne transformers to a repair station. The controls were environmentally controlled for temperature and humidity. The controls also allowed for a winch to pull the transformer aboard after being leveled with electric screw jacks, once secured, move along a main track and lift itself on to another set of tracks perpendicular to the main tracks. AC flux vector drives played a major roll in this control system.
